Meet Needs
To meet clients' and communities' needs, I learned to diagnose information gaps and perscribe resources to close the breach. I learned to synthesize constructivist thought and sense-making theory to focus on clients’ and communities’ needs and to find solutions for their information needs.
I used my new knowledge to analyze communities, resources, and clients’ needs to create a book list of 1,000-plus titles for School Specialty, an education publisher. These book titles will be published in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years in six and seven student planners, respectively. For my areas of expertise in collection development, please see my resume.
In my literature review, Meet the Digital Natives On Their Own Turf: Suggestions for Teaching Information Literacy Skills to the Google Generation (see below), I learned to synthesize different teaching approaches with various online resources thus offering people born after 1981 meaningful lessons in information literacy.
